Long-Awaited Historic Letters Are Now Published

Glencoe Mansion, Museum and Gallery are pleased to announce the release of the new book “The Whartons’ War: The Civil War Correspondence of General Gabriel C. Wharton and Anne Radford Wharton, 1863-1865”. Written by William C. "Jack" Davis and Sue Heth Bell, this book features the wartime correspondence between Confederate newlyweds Brigadier General Gabriel C. Wharton and Anne Radford Wharton. The surviving 524 letters are astounding and reveal that we still have so much to learn about our history. To learn more please click the Press Release.

Join us on August 19 for the release of “The Whartons’ War: The Civil War Correspondence of General Gabriel C. Wharton and Anne Radford Wharton, 1863-1865”! We will have a presentation with the authors at the Radford City Council Chambers to unveil the new book, with a book a signing afterwards. The reading will begin at 5pm that evening.
