As a special addition to the new exhibit on Victorian death and mourning at the Glencoe Mansion, B. Scott Crawford will give a talk on the culture of death in the Victorian Era. Crawford will focus on the Victorian mourning practices as reflected through the arts and historical record.  From post-mortem portraits to mourning jewelry, and from the introduction of embalming practices to security coffins, Crawford will bring the history of death in 19th century America alive through this engaging presentation.
